David was born on April 4th, 1929, one of four children conceived by Clarence Elmer Hoffman and his wife, Lizzie Mae Parker Hoffman. In 1948, He enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, Texas during the period just after WWII. There he rose to the rank of Corporal. While in the service, he married Bonnie Fern McLean Hoffman and they remained married for 67 years until her death in 2017. David worked at Winchester Surgical Supply for 44 years where he advanced to the level of Corporate Secretary and VP of Finance. He was blessed to eventually work with both his sons at Winchester until his retirement in 1994. David was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he often taught Sunday School. In retirement, David and Bonnie enjoyed traveling with Christian Tours and visiting Hawaii, the Holy Land, and Europe as well as their condo in Crescent Beach, SC.
David is survived by his brother, Sydney Hoffman and his wife Goldia, his sons, D. Michael Hoffman and his wife Gail, Steven M. Hoffman and his wife Jennifer; and his four grandchildren, Brandon M. Hoffman, Bryan D. Hoffman and his wife Kayla, Brooke E. Hoffman and Lauren A. McAnally. He is also survived by two great grandchildren Luke W. Hoffman and Brady D. Hoffman.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at Hickory Grove Baptist Church - Harris Campus 7200 E W.T. Harris Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28215 Thursday, August 26th, 2021. Visitation with friends will begin at 10:00am with the funeral service at 11:00am. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at Sharon Memorial Park next to his beloved wife, Bonnie.
