Born in Charlotte September 12, 1935, to the late Robert Lemuel Beaver, Sr, and Vera Jones Beaver. After graduating from Central High (Class of ’53) he joined the Army National Guard, and subsequently, the Army Reserve serving our Country proud for 31 years. In civilian life he was employed by Piedmont Natural Gas for 41 years, ending his career as Director of Purchasing. After retiring from Piedmont in 1997, he attained his Realtors and Brokers Licenses and opened his own Real Estate Company in 1999. Also, during retirement, David formed a Consulting business called Resource Management using his years of experience in the Natural Gas Industry to serve local gas companies in North and South Carolina.
David was a lifelong member of Christ Presbyterian Church (formerly Wilmore Presbyterian) serving as an Elder, Treasurer, and many other leadership roles in the Church. David also played 20 plus years on the church softball team, playing well into his 50’s.
David’s biggest joy in life was his family. He married his soulmate, formerly Barbara J. Dance, March 25, 1960. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who coached, mentored, and was an avid fan of all activities enjoyed by his family. David had a life-long passion for aviation and soloed in 1957 in a J3 Cub. David also loved a round of golf, time permitting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Dance Beaver; two children, David B Beaver, II (Meri), Teresa L Beaver; and his beloved grandchildren, David, III, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Schyler, Laura; great grandson Wyatt; “adopted” daughter Teresa Ledbetter; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to home healthcare provider Christie Cyphert. David is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 9th at Christ Presbyterian Church located at 2461 Arty Ave. Charlotte, NC 28208. A reception will be held in the Church fellowship hall following the service. Brandon Cook of McEwen-Pineville will serve as the funeral director. The Memorial service will be led by Reverend Rodger Sellers and Reverend Stephen Ratliff.
