Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Daniel was a son of Mary Ann Henkel of Charlotte, NC and William W. Waite Sr. of Statesville, NC.
Daniel had a fond affection for the beach, mountains, rodeo’s, Alan Jackson and crowded malls, particularly at Christmas. His favorite characters were Bugs Bunny, Sponge Bob and the Minions.
His affiliations through life included United Cerebral Palsy, March of Dimes and ARC. He was also a proud honorary volunteer for LOVE Inc. of Charlotte, helping to deliver food, computers, and many other items to clients.
In addition to his parents survivors include his step-father, Thomas Henkel; step-mother, Leslee Waite; a sister, Katherine Sullivan and family of Madison, WI; a brother, William Wayte and his wife, Amy and their children, Daniel and Magdelynn of Sheboygan, WI; step-sister, Margaret Shepherd and husband, Dan and their son, Tony of Dallas, TX; step-brother, Michael Henkel and son, Conner of Dallas, TX; aunts and uncles, Ron and Jeanne Morse of Rockford, IL, Patti Wallace of Denver, NC, Margo Mohan of Charlotte, NC and Marilyn and Dr. Paul Mahlburg of Door Co., WI.
Friends may visit Thursday, November 16, 2017 at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262, from 1 to 2 pm where a Celebration of Daniels’ life is planned for 2:00 pm with Mike Davis officiating.
