A native of Saint Vincent & the Grenadines in the West Indies, Mr. Daniel was born to the late Walter Daniel and Ethlyn Antoine Daniel on July 8, 1931. He migrated to the United States in 1978 and worked as a mechanic until he retired from the Newark International Airport in 1999. Mr. Daniel and his wife moved to Charlotte, NC in 2007 and became devoted members of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. Slim was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time tending to his lawn and garden. He also enjoyed carpentry, music and entertaining family and friends.
Mr. Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Gloria Daniel; children, Rudolph Daniel, Carl Lewis, Angela Lewis, Eric Browne, Kurt McFadden, Margaret Edwards, Knigel McDowall, Cynthia Mitchell, Brenda Bishop, and his youngest, Vernette Daniel; siblings, Therina Sutherland, Mack Daniel; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 13200 Mallard Creek Rd, Charlotte. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Saturday at the church. A brief viewing of the body will be held from 10-11am, prior to the service.
