Your strength, kindness and humor never failed during the years Alzheimer’s stole your memories, never really forgetting your loved ones. We got a glimpse of your younger self when your thoughts took you away to an earlier time calling for your Mother and Father and beloved sisters or brothers. You chose your time on your terms and had the opportunity to hear your brother Cees Vel and sister Loes (Vel) Dreissen and sister-in law Willy (Hueting) Beart.
While living in Charlotte NC with daughter Josina and son in law Mike for the past year, we are thankful to all for the Charlotte visits and visits back to Tampa, face time, and always putting Oma first. You all put a smile on her face when she heard your voice. A very special thank you to Jennifer Ware for spending precious time with Oma while in Charlotte and taking her with the great grandkids to Ballet’s, Ballroom dance competitions, Opera and the Theater and loving unconditionally to her last breath. We are also very very grateful to Michael (Amy) Ciro who cared for Cora every week for the past year keeping her safe, selecting her favorite piano pieces that she remembered playing, and being such a calming voice for struggling family members. Without you, the past year at home would not have been possible. Mike Ware you are a saint with a heart the size of the world. And to Hospice of Charlotte, such a specialized group of caring individuals, thank you for the guidance, supportive words and allowing Cora all of her dignity. Mom, we are all so very grateful to you for setting the example of making the best of any situation. RIP Mom and give Pop a hug.
