Cora Ann Hudson, a resident of Sharon Towers, passed away on April 10, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born on September 1, 1926 in Norwood, NC, and was raised at “Holly Bend” in the Hopewell Community in Northern Mecklenburg County. She is the daughter of the late John Lindsay Parks and Cora Robinson Colson. Cora Ann and her husband, H. Lamont Hudson, were married for 64 years.
Mrs. Hudson attended Harding High School in Charlotte and graduated from Queens University in 1949 with a degree in Music and Fine Arts. She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for over 50 years. Cora Ann and Lamont have three sons and seven grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and her face lit up when any member walked into the room.
In addition to offering private music lessons, Cora Ann went back to Queens to get her teaching certificate. She taught at Park Road Elementary for 19 years. Cora Ann enjoyed traveling to New York City and different regions of the world with Queens Alumni, church groups, and with Lamont. She served briefly as head of the Docents at the Mint Museum of Art . Cora Ann enjoyed her relationships with friends in the Hopewell Community, Queens University, her bridge club, book club and her church.
Mrs. Hudson is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold Lamont Hudson; her son, Harold Lamont Hudson, Jr., and his four children: Ruth Ann Hudson and her husband Michael Kanaley, Jonathan David Hudson, Sara Elizabeth Hudson and Mark Thomas Hudson; her son, David Lindsay Hudson and his wife Susan Margaret Hudson, along with their three daughters: Rebekah Ann Hudson, Rachel Leigh Hudson and Mary Elizabeth Hudson; her son, William Roy Hudson and his wife, Rebecca McAden Hudson. Mrs. Hudson was predeceased by two brothers: Thomas Colson Parks and Joseph Gluyus Parks and is survived by two sisters: Mary Alice Rhoades and Ava Robinson McGinnis.
A Service of Celebration will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13th, followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Private interment will precede the service.
