Cora Lee Griffin

Cora Lee Griffin, wife of the Late Henry Pinckney Griffin for over 50 years, passed away on February 18, 2016. Born in Ware, MA on November 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Sanford and Hattie Vanetta Elwood McCorkle.

Mrs. Griffin worked for and in 2008, retired from the Mecklenburg County School system where many children enjoyed her baking. She was a former member of Westview Baptist Church for 56 years and served on the VBS, nursery and communion. She later served the Lord at Holly Hunter Baptist Church in Charlotte.

She is survived by her 2 children, Billy Joe Griffin and Roger Griffin, both of Clover, SC; 3 brother, Larry McCorkle of Huntersville, Ray McCorkle of Front Royal, VA and Karl McCorkle of Charlotte. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her 3 brothers, Elmer, Sidney and Paul.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 22nd, 11 AM at Holly Hunter Baptist Church, Charlotte. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Friend and relatives may visit the family on Sunday from 3-5PM at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte.
