Constance "Connie" D. Mellinger, 99, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Born February 12, 1925 in Cumberland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Mary (Godbold) Clark.
Connie received her formal education from the school system of Columbia, SC. She then went on to study general business and accounting. During World War II, the government began recruiting women to work in government offices in Washington D.C. where Connie went on to work and retire and lived for more than 30 years.
After retirement, Connie decided to move back to Charlotte, NC to be closer to her mother as well as a slower pace of life in Ballantyne Commons. In 2011 she moved to Virginia to be closer to her daughter, where stayed until her passing.
She enjoyed traveling with her daughter to several beaches including Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. They also took a couple trips to Florida and the Smokey Mountains. She also enjoyed her pets and community activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Helene Dobson; grandsons, Vincent Mock and Thomas (Renee) Mock; great-grandson, Garrett Mock.
A visitation for Constance will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of her service at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
