Colette Teahl Smith

Colette was born on February 12, 1960, in Manhattan, New York, to the late Lester Davis Teahl and Patricia Teahl (McLaughlin). Colette graduated East Brunswick Votech in New Jersey. Her intelligence and work ethic allowed her to be successful in her careers at Belk Distribution Center and Carlisle Food Service Products. Outside of work, she was the former President of The Ladies Auxiliary of North Carolina.

Colette married the love of her life, Michael Smith and together they had two sons, Patrick Kyle and Stephen Smith. She was an excellent, loving mother to her children and she happily gave the same love and dedication to her grandchildren, Amara and James Kyle.

Colette will be remembered as a supportive, kind, and generous soul who loved her family and her friends. In her family, she was always the first person to provide strength, guidance, and fellowship when a loved one needed it. Colette was also known for being quite the cook. Any person who had the chance to sit at her table felt at home because of the care and consideration she provided her guests. Colette found joy in her grandchildren. She loved spending time and creating lasting memories with them. As a wife to her husband Michael, she was a constant source of support. Colette was always up for any adventure life could take her on, especially if that adventure involved riding her Harley motorcycle.

In addition to her parents, Colette was predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen Meyer, Theresa Bogue, and Maureen Kadi. She is survived by her husband, Michael of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Lester Teahl (Veronica) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Stevie Teahl (Joan) of Old Bridge, New Jersey; sister, Patricia Teahl of Charlotte; sons, Patrick Kyle (Becky) of Albemarle, North Carolina and Stephen Smith of Yokosuka, Japan; grandchildren Amara and James Kyle.

A Memorial Gathering for Colette will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
