Clyde R. Wike, 80, of Charlotte, passed away at Charlotte Health Care Center. Born on October 23, 1934 in Taylorsville, NC, he was the son of the late Pollie C. and Lizzie Wike. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Junior, Harold and R.D. Wike. He was a member of Thrift Baptist Church and was employed by Duke Power as a Lineman. Faith and family were paramount to Clyde. His determination to embrace life fully, even while fighting a courageous battle with cancer, was remarkable. In all of his actions, he was guided by his desire to make the world a better place for his Grandchildren.
Surviving Mr. Wike is his beloved wife of 58 years, Ella Patterson Wike. Also surviving him are his sons, Terry R. Wike of Gastonia and Rodney D. Wike and wife René of Mt. Holly; Grandsons, Justin Tyler Wike and Bryson Cole Wike; Sisters, Annette Fisher and Jeanette Austin; and by brothers, Sam, Jack and Billy Wike.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A service celebrating Mr. Wike’s life will be held at Noon in the Charlotte Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park with the Revs. Gene Latham and William “Ray” Pennell officiating. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Sharon Memorial Park.
