Christine Spencer Thompson, age 91 of Charlotte went to be with the Lord at 6:33PM, September 7th, 2013. She died with her family present at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Christine was born September 28, 1921 in Chester County, SC. She was the eldest of six children born to James Oliver Spencer and Anna Ashford Spencer. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Buford Thompson. Surviving are her son, James Buford Thompson and wife, Donna Helms Thompson and her granddaughter, Brandy Jean Thompson. Christine was an active member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Her love of Children led her to more than 40 years of teaching the primary class. She volunteered for many years as a care giver in area senior citizens homes and shared her amazing cooking skills with many families in her church and her neighborhood. A service to celebrate her life will be at 11:00AM, Wednesday, September 11th at the graveside in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Mr. Gene Boatwright of her church officiating.
