Christine Randall Gable walked into the gates of Heaven on January 3rd, 2017. She would have celebrated her 95th birthday on January the 9th, 2017. She was born in Erlanger, North Carolina and was the oldest child of McLeard and Irene Randall. She was preceded in death by her husband Reverend L A Gable and by her siblings Margaret Sue, Gladys, Vivian and Fred.
Christine taught herself to play eight instruments due to her love of music. Her service to the Lord began at an early age at the side of her mother. As a minister's wife, she served with her husband teaching Sunday School, playing the organ and piano, directing the choir, and heading up lay groups. In her free time she assisted at the Soup Kitchen, played handbells and worked with senior citizens. In her 80's, she took mission trips to Africa and Germany where she helped build churches and worked as a volunteer in various programs.
Her great loves were caring and cooking for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Thomas of Charlotte and son, Andee Gable wife Anne of Greensboro. Her grandchildren Kristy Thomas, Lindy Leger husband Todd, Bryan Thomas wife Nicole, Katy Ericksson husband Kaarle and Travis Gable and great-grandchildren, Austin, Spencer and MacKenzie Leger, Lacie and Max Thomas, Breelynn, Bladen and Blaine Thomas, also survive her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 6th, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Matthews at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM in the vestibule of the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Little Flower Assisted Living Charlotte and Union County DSS Senior Services in Monroe.
