Chester W. Snow Sr., WWII veteran, passed away peacefully on January 24th at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, with his daughters by his side. Chet was born on September 18, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio and was the only child of Chester W. Snow and Lillian Egan Snow. He is preceded in death by his son, Chet Snow, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Snow, son Vance and wife Pat, daughter Melanie, daughter Tara Wilson, daughter Michel Snow Lapalombella and husband Frank, and son Doran, as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Chet enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943. He was honorably discharged following a plane crash in Sioux City, Iowa. He later moved South and in 1958 opened Chet Snow Realtors. His wife Mary joined him following their marriage in 1960 and his son Chet Snow, Jr. came on board in 1972. During his career as a realtor, Chet served as Vice President and President of the Charlotte Board of Realtors, President of the State Board of Realtors and most proudly, served as a member of the Make America Better Committee for 14 years, chairing the Committee in 1982.
Chet enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid race fan and sports enthusiast, participating in the Cabarrus Senior Olympics at 72 and 73 years of age. Chet was a diehard patriot. His other great loves were his animals. Never without a dog by his side, he leaves behind Cedric and Mae.
Perhaps Chet’s finest days were once he had moved to Mallard Creek where he began gardening, playing golf with his dear friend, Pastor Kenneth Craig, and lovingly became known as “Pop Pop.”
