Cheryl Lynne Roosenberg, known to many as Cheri, was born on February 19th, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to Harold Ross Johnson and Alice Mae Morgan. She was raised alongside her beloved brothers, Howard Ralph Moccabee and Steven (Steve) Ross Johnson, in a small row house in an area known as "the bottoms". The home was always filled with their large extended family and many friends. After graduating from Central High School in 1965, she joined the workforce and one day, a little boy repeatedly approached her for the homemade Christmas cookies on her desk. Eventually the boy's father found him and Cheri met Bill. After their first date, Cheri returned home and told her best friend Donna that she met the man she was going to marry. On November 22, 1975, William (Bill) Edwin Roosenberg and Cheri married and along with Bill's son, Phillip Lee Roosenberg, they became a family. When they had an opportunity to move to Charlotte, North Carolina, they decided to embrace the sunshine and not long after, their little family grew with the birth of their son William (Billy) Ross Roosenberg and then their daughter Alison (Ali) Lynne Roosenberg. They spent those early years not only building a loving home but side-by-side they built their business. As time passed, Cheri was blessed with a second daughter when Phillip married Dena Marie Boyles and her heart became so full with the addition of her grandsons, Brandon William Roosenberg and Cole Phillip Roosenberg.
With her young family and joined by their dear friends, Cheri and Bill explored the Carolinas; pulling their trailer behind a Suburban. With their business growing, Cheri and Bill also had a chance to travel the world. When their retirement years came, Cheri and Bill set off across North America in their little RV. Bill was the pilot and Cheri the navigator. Despite all of her travels, no place made her happier than just a simple evening at home with her family. Sitting on the back porch, grilling burgers and sharing time with one another. Cheri's family was her greatest joy.
While quiet in her faith, Cheri was a woman of God. She was naturally positive but her belief in Jesus Christ always provided her comfort and even in the most difficult times she believed everything would be okay because Christ's love and promise of salvation would sustain her. Cheri was humble and had an incredible capacity for compassion. She always gave absolutely everything of herself to the world and leaves an unbelievable legacy of kindness. While she could never remember the punch line to a joke, she had a wonderful sense of humor and her laugh was absolutely contagious. She gave incredible advice which always came from the warmth of her heart. She was infinitely patient and not at all judgemental. She always strived to build people up and never to tear them down. She saw the potential for good in everyone she met. She was one of the most extraordinary people to ever grace this world and it will forever be a bit less beautiful without her. We can all honor her memory though by remembering to hold our loved ones close, showing strangers kindness and looking for positivity when the world slings pain and sorrow. It's amazing what the heart of one quiet woman did for so many.

If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please consider sharing your generosity with The Gabriel House or Kreitzer's Puppy Rescue. While Cheri loved a simple bouquet of wildflowers, she would want any gestures of love and kindness to benefit the lives of others.
The Gabriel House provides safe and affordable accommodations for organ transplant candidates and recipients receiving care at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. It is a place of hope and oftentimes a place of healing and was dear to Cheri's heart. A donation in her name would help another family struggling through the fear and uncertainty of illness.

Cheri had a big heart for animals and had so much love for Billy and Ali's crazy pups. Lander and Violet provided her with love and companionship and so much entertainment. Kreitzer's is a small rescue that has saved over 3000 dogs and cats since 2004. A donation in Cheri's honor would be a beautiful gesture and could very well save a life.
