Charlotte Bowen Tolbert

Mrs. Charlotte Bowen Tolbert, 75, passed away on February 25, 2013 at CMC-Mercy. She was born on December 16, 1937 in Belmont, NC, a daughter of the late Robert Calvin and Mary Wells Bowen. Charlotte was preceded in death by her late husband, Bobby Tolbert and her niece, Crystal Bowen Lee.

Charlotte is a graduate of Charlotte Central High School and attended UNC-G. She was an accomplished bookkeeper, and loved her job in the book store at Central Piedmont Community College, where she worked until she retired.

Charlotte is survived by her brother, Robert Calvin Bowen Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Greensboro; her niece, Rhonda Michelle Bowen of Greensboro; her niece's son, A J Arthur of Bristow, Virginia; and her nephew, Dr. Robert Calvin Bowen III and his family of Charlotte. Dr. Bowen’s family includes his wife Anne, his sons, Ben and Tim and his daughter, Mollie. She is also survived by nieces and nephews in or near Columbia, SC as a result of her marriage to her late husband.

Charlotte was a devoted animal lover and cherished her dog, Tinkerbell.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
