Mr. Webb, age 72, of Charlotte, NC, died Sunday, May 1. 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center - Mercy following a lengthy illness. Born April 10, 1939, also at Mercy Hospital, he was a son of Alma Williams Webb of Charlotte and the late James E. Webb. He graduated from Central High School - Class of 1957, served in the US Marines, attended Central Piedmont Community College and retired with the US Postal Service. Mr. Webb volunteered at Blumenthal Center and Mint Museum. He discovered and embraced music and the arts, loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Early on, Mr. Webb loved coaching his sons in athletics. He was always creative in his methods, and was all about motivating and building teamwork, often with his own brand of offbeat humor.
The service to celebrate the Life of Charles Richard Webb will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 5, 2011 from the graveside
at Evergreen Cemetery with Reverend Sam Wall, officiating.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Richard Webb, Jr., his wife, Sonya, and their son, Ty, of Matthews and David Webb, his wife, Kim, and their son, Tim, of Burlington; mother, Alma; three siblings, Shirley Webb of Charlotte, James K. Webb, his wife, Myrtile, and their daughter, Zara, of San Jose, California and Paul E. Webb of Charlotte; and many friends, including lifelong friend, William H. West of Hawaii and Sherry Dancy of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to his father, Mr. Webb was preceded in death by a brother, William A. Webb also of Charlotte.
