Chip graduated in 1995 from West Mecklenburg High School and attended Pembroke University and Central Piedmont Community College taking business courses. He was last employed by Buds and Blooms, a wholesale distributor in Charlotte.
He was passionate and competitive. He loved playing golf, watching golf tournaments, playing disk golf, and playing games with the whole family during holidays and beach trips.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he made a profession of faith in Jesus. It was his faith and love of his family that sustained him through these past several years of health struggles.
Chip is survived by those he loved most in life: his wife, Anna; his daughters, Ava and Cadence; their family’s beloved dogs Chloe and Jenna, and their cat Milo; his parents, Toogie and Donna Smith; his sister and brother-in-law, Shea and Donnie McGee and their family Hailey, Emma, Dalton, Nick, and Morgan; his mother and father-in-law, Denise and Tom Calvey; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grand-parents, Bill and Jesse Mae Smith; and J.B. and Peggy Hale; his aunt Maxine Hutchens and his uncle Mike Hale.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire team at Levine Cancer Institute’s Hematology/Oncology division for their service. We are also very grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family members, friends, and Chip’s former customers. Thank you for honoring him in this way.
A visitation for Chip will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
