Charles William Kranz

Charlie, 70, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at home peacefully surrounded by his family and friends.

Born January 13, 1953 in Toledo, OH, he was the son of William and Barbara Kranz.

The joy of Charlie’s life was his family and friends. Charlie married Betty Hollifield Kranz on September 8, 1974 and was married for 47 years before her passing. They welcomed twins, Jason and April, December 7, 1980. His granddaughter Adyson was born into the family on December 13, 2011. Adyson was the light of Charlie’s life. Everyone that talked to him would hear everything new about what Adyson was up to. Some of his favorite things were being able to pick Adyson up from school, weekly trips to Lowe's, mornings they could go out for breakfast, beach trips and rides on the golf cart.

He is survived by his two children, Jason Kranz (Sara) and April Dugan (Chris), his grandchildren Adyson Dugan, Aiden, Emma, Jack and Cameron Bugler, his sister Cindy Smith (Randy), a number of nieces and nephews, his Aunt Ellen Klepacz (Kevin) who he was very close to, and his faithful furry companion Bailey. He also leaves behind many close friends in particular Cathie Thompson who is like family and her two daughters Devin and Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Barbara Kranz and his wife Betty Kranz.

A service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 20, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 pm.
