

Charlotte resident, Charles Jenkins, 63, lost his COVID-19 fight on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center.
Charles was born to the late Garl Charles Jenkins and Shirley Faye Stroupe. A graduat of West Mecklenburg High School, Charles was employed with Duke Energy for 43 years as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic, where he was fondly known as Stumpy and retired on November 30, 2020.
Charles had a deep love for his rescue dogs and making people laugh. He had a unique way of conducting his humorous tricks and shenanigans. He was a member of Charlotte Trinity Church of the Nazarene.
Charles is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Rev. Dianne Jenkins; daughters, Chasity Austin (Billy) of Belmont, NC and Regina Jenkins of Spartanburg, SC; a granddaughter, Melody Grace Jenkins; grandsons, Alexander Charles Austin and Jaxon Isaiah Austin, two sisters; nieces and nephews.
An intimate Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte. Visitation 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Service will be streamed live on the Forest Lawn West Facebook page.
