Charles Graham Jr. began his life August 29, 1942 in Charlotte, NC. He departed this earthly life and began his new life on October 20, 2021. Charles was the son of the late Maelene Graham and Charles Graham, Sr.
Charles was educated in Charlotte Mecklenburg schools and graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1960. He later moved to New York City to continue his education. He graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in Business Administration. He retired from Alexander & Alexander of New York after several years as a manager.
Charles was a member of the St. James Presbyterian Church and Community Life Center of Harlem New York and Bronx Community Life Center of New York. He had a full and busy life being a participant of the White House Initiative on historical Black Colleges and Universities 1989-1992, United Negro College Fund 1979-1995, Arthur Ashe United Negro College Fund Tournament 1975-1982, Chairperson of Distinguished Partners, which supported and mentored young people through scholarships, tutorials, grants, networking and partnerships with community institutions and businesses. This was one of his most important achievements.
Created in October of 1998, Distinguished Partners came together as a social group during homecoming to reminisce and socialize. The members gradually came together to the realization that the current generations of young people matriculating at HBCU’s could benefit from their support financially through donations and scholarships. This gradually transitioned to the inclusion of a community component which recognized individuals who distinguished themselves in the local community through their volunteering, compassion, benevolence (time and money), and implementation and/or facilitation of events for their need.
The vision of the organization seeks to make a positive community influence through its strategic contributions to historical black colleges and universities.
Charles was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Diane Graham White. Charles leaves to cherish his memories sisters Evelyn Alexander (Larry) of Albuquerque, NM and Teresa Graham of Charlotte, NC; four nephews Arron R.
