Charles Owen Courtney, 87 of Clover, SC passed away on August 2, 2017. Charles was born in Union County to Johnny Lee Courtney and Rosa Lee Newman Courtney on May 14, 1930.
Charles was the owner of C & M Hardware of Gastonia and was a longtime member of First Free Will Baptist Church, also of Gastonia. Charles also served in the military during the Korean conflict.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Stikeleather Courtney; son, Gene Courtney and wife Janice; sisters, Nonah Rorie, Loretta Wilson and husband Graham and Katherine Knight; brothers, Paul Courtney and wife Christina and Jerry Courtney; grandchildren, Ray Courtney D’Amore and husband Matt, and Lee Courtney Bailey and husband Chad; and great grandchildren, Elijah and Willa D’Amore, and Lane Bailey.
Services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00am in the Paul Helton Chapel at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home; Pastor Darin Gibbs to officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior at 10:00am. Interment will take place in Sunset Memory Gardens.
