Formerly of Charlotte, Charles was the only boy born to Cecil and Doris Hawfield Blackwelder in Lancaster, SC. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force where he earned the National Defense Service medal.
Charles exemplified the US Air Force motto of ‘Aim high, fly, fight win’ throughout his life. He took on the role of Superman as an honorable and righteous man. Charles loved to make people laugh and loved to fix anything that seemed broken. He loved to draw but most importantly he loved God.
Left to mourn his loss are his cherished children David E. Blackwelder, Brian E. Blackwelder, Ashley Yoder and Marie Rivera.
Charles is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra Blackwelder who passed away on November 10, 2017.
A graveside service with US Air Force funeral honors is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 10:30 am at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family by contacting Marie Rivera via text at 704/806-0712.
