Cathy Garrison Baker

Cathy was born on May 17, 1953 in Monroe, NC to the late Roy Hamilton Garrison and Stacie Plyler Garrison.

She met the love of her life, Rick Baker while at Sun Valley High School and they were married on November 25, 1972. Rick and Cathy lived a majority of their life in Matthews, NC, where they built a loving home and raised two sons who have done their very best to make their mother proud.

Cathy dedicated her career to working as a pediatric dental assistant, before retiring from Pediatric Dentistry of Matthews, NC in 2017. Cathy enjoyed working with children and cherished the close friendships she formed at the office. After retirement, Cathy moved with her husband Rick to Apex, NC to be closer to her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their sporting events and spending time with them. She took great pride and joy in her role as “Grammy”.

One of Cathy’s greatest pleasures was traveling with her family. She loved discovering new places, exploring local shops, and most of all, capturing every special moment with her camera. Her passion for preserving memories has left her family with many cherished photo albums. Among all her travels, Blowing Rock, NC, was her favorite retreat. She and Rick visited as often as possible, enjoying the charm of the town and the beauty of nature together.

While the last months of her life were difficult, her sons are grateful for the time they were able to spend caring for her. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Matthew Baker (wife Stephanie) and Tyler Baker (wife Karina); grandchildren, Aubrey Baker and Ethan Baker; and many friends. She is now reunited with her husband Rick, who preceded her in death on October 14, 2023.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am in the chapel at McEwen. No burial service will be held.
