Catherine Eugene Marsh

She was born on October 8, 1931. The daughter of Baxter Leonard Lawing and Ona Myrtle Morgan Lawing. Catherine attended Central High School in Charlotte, graduating in 1950. She faithfully attended her class reunions and monthly luncheons, where she enjoyed catching up with her high school classmates.

Catherine met her husband, Richard Leon Marsh in Charlotte and they were married on September 5, 1952. After raising their children, she returned to college and finished her Bachelor's degree, then obtained a Master's degree from the University of South Alabama.

She was always very active in the Presbyterian Church, whether in Women of the Church circles, volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank or assisting with meal preparation and set up for Friendship Communion. She also sang in the choir and rang handbells.

Catherine had a strong love of nature. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in her backyard, as well seeing the deer passing through.

She is survived by her children; Sylvia Lynn Cauble and Scott Alan Marsh, grandchildren; Angela A. Small (Trey) and Natalie C. Banary (Matt), brother; Earl B. Lawing (Madeline) and nieces.

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, her husband; Richard Leon Marsh, her daughter; Stephanie Angela Marsh and sisters; Frances Marie Lawing and Myrtle Lawing Anselment.

Memorials may be sent in Catherine's memory to the ALS Association or the Alzheimer's Association.

A visitation for Catherine will be held Friday, February 17, 2023 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
