Carolyn M. Richardson

Carolyn McIlroy Richardson, age 74, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2012.

Carolyn was born in Charlotte, NC and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. She worked at NCNB where she met her future husband, Charles. She was an accomplished violinist who was recruited by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, but instead she chose to devote herself to raising a family. Her interests were diverse, ranging from bird watching to theatre to classic movies. In 1996, after living in Middletown, NJ for 20 years, she and Charles retired to Taylorsville, NC where she lived until her passing.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Charlie, and her children, Allen (Megan), Patrick, and Erin, as well as her two grandchildren, Adam and Julia. She is also survived by two brothers, and a sister, Dorsey McIlroy of Mint Hill, Michael McIlroy of Florida, and Dollie Tyls of Bolivia, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harry and Bryant Company.
