She was born in South Boston, VA and moved to Charlotte at an early age. Carolyn was a graduate of Harry P. Harding Class of 1963 and spent 31 years as a Teacher with Char-Meck Schools and loved all of her students with a passion. She was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and worked as a pre-school teacher in her early years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James D. and Willie Snead Carver; brother, James D. Carver, Jr. (Sonny); and is survived by her husband, Frank E. Redies of Harrisburg; sister, Patricia C. Knight of Harrisburg; daughters, Kimberly Redies (Jernigan) of Houston, TX, and Karen Frye (Randy) of Madison, NC; son, James Redies (Amy) of Wilkesboro, NC; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, and was well cared for in her home by her husband, children and Hospice of Cabarrus County. A special THANKS to Candice, Gabby and Yvonne for their loving care.
She loved to Shag/Line Dance with Bopper’s Shag Club, at the beach, and at Mecklenburg Shrine Club. She had an infectious smile and she never met a stranger, was a loving wife of Frank (“first husband she would say”) for 58 years and they were a couple for 62 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 am Saturday, January 22, 2022, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, NC. Immediately following the service, friends are cordially invited to a reception with the family at the funeral home.
