The hardest part of dealing with someone lost is most often the weeks, months and years after their passing. It is on those poignant days we feel the acute pain, knowing we might never see those we loved again. But faith...faith in God and heaven pulls us through. I am certain Brenda Barnett Swan is waiting for her family in Heaven, and she will greet them with such joy and love. I light this candle in memory of her.

You are a remarkable man who so clearly reflects the joy, beauty, talent and love your parents embodied. Your mother will be forever at your side. Her ebullient, gracious and caring spirit will never be forgotten, nor will yours my love. I am certain she is carefully watching over you, Craig, as well as her entire group of family and friends.

Craig, I am so sorry for your loss. I just happened to stumble across the obituary and I often wondered what happened to your mom after your father's death.  I knew your mom and dad when I was engaged to your Uncle Dwight.  They were such a fun couple and we used to visit them when we were home from college.  I really thought a lot of your mother and she helped me through some serious times.  I actually babysit you for a few hours one time.  I am so sorry both of them are gone.

I am another of your Mom's friends from school and was so sorry to hear about her passing.  Our parents built homes on Barnett Dr. in Kings Mtn. when Brenda and I were in 3rd grade.  Your Mom, Kaye and I became fast friends and did everything together, movies, walking in the woods, putting on plays (she always wanted to be Marilyn Monroe), girl scouts, learning to cook. Later two more girls moved into the neighborhood and we all had a great time growing up together. I still have a magazine rack your Mom and I made in 8th grade together as a school project. After graduation I moved out of state and lost contact.  I did talk with her about the time you entered first grade.  I was in Charlotte on business and found her name in the phone book and called.  We had a wonderful talk.  Just remember she loved you very much and will always be with you.

You don't know me, but I was friends with your mother, your father Carl, and your Aunt Kaye during our care-free high school days in Kings Mountain.  Brenda and I graduated in the same class.  We "ran around" together while we were single, and we stayed in touch after we got married, but lost touch when my husband and I moved out of state. Your lovely mother was a special person, with a wonderful personality and a big heart.  Just thinking of her warms my heart.  I also thought highly of your father and your grandparents on both sides of the family.

Please know that you will be in my heart and in my prayers, while you grieve for dear Brenda.

Craig, you do not know me but your mother and I graduated high school together. Sorry to hear of her passing. Just wanted you to know how sorry I am to learn this. Janice Crocker and I are very good friends. Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Class of 1959.

There are few words that I have that can describe how sorry and sad I am to be writing this to you. I loved your mom very much and no amount of time that has passed, could ever change that. My memories of her will always make leave a smile on my face, especially, those Sunday night dinners. It always made my day knowing she was cooking. To walk in that house, smell her food and listen to her "oldies music" playing in the background, made the worlds problems disappear..if only for a short time. Your mom loved you so much and I know she will continue to look over you and your girls, probably now better than ever. Even though shes not physically here, i believe the stars may have gotten a little brighter. Please know that our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with you and your family.

Craig, praying for you and your family to be at peace during this time. Your mom is no longer in pain and I bet she and my parents are catching up on things!  I will always remember the first day I came to her door to see the new baby boy Craig. I spent numerous hours almost everyday helping her take care of you, and as I got older we worked together at Presbyterian Hospital. Needless to say she was in my life daily for so many years. She will always be a part of me as she is my past. Just know even though I haven't 
seen you in a long time you will always be close to my heart.
