Born to Connie H. and Forney W. Lowe, Sr. on April 25, 1925 in Gastonia, Bob was a 1942 graduate of Bessemer City High School before he went on to study accounting and business administration at Evans Business College.
In February 1943, Bob joined the US Navy where he proudly served his country during WWII in the Philippines and surrounding islands.
Upon his return to North Carolina, Bob began his career in the textile industry. From the early days as an office clerk, assistant, plant manager, accounting manager, general manager, Bob reached his position as VP of Administration and Operations at Cinderella Knitting Mills relocated to Reading, PA in 1971. His tenure in the textile industry provided the opportunity to revamp yarn spinning plants by developing spinning, knitting, bleaching and dyeing operations for numerous facilities in several states and Puerto Rico.
In 1975, an opportunity to return to North Carolina was presented when Bob joined Stedman Corporation as VP of their fabric division with numerous plants throughout NC. Stedman was the largest privately own operation of its type in the US. Bob retired from Stedman in 1988 and moved back to Charlotte to be closer to his family.
Bob was an active member of the National Knitwear Association, Toastmaster Club and the Asheboro Rotary Club. He also enjoyed memberships at Kings Mountain Country Club, Gaston Country Club, Moselem Springs Country Club (Reading, PA), Asheboro Country Club and Rolling Hills Country Club (Monroe, NC).
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of sixty years Iva Mae Hovis Lowe; sisters Juanita (Olin) Lowe Mauney and Patricia Lowe Morrow; brother Forney W. Lowe, Jr. and son-in-law Ernie Adams.
Left to mourn his loss are daughters Donna Lowe Adams of Goose Creek SC, Katrinka Lowe Talbot (Everett) of Charlotte; grandson Brett Talbot; granddaughter Amanda Adams; great granddaughters Krista and Laney Talbot; sister-in-law June Lowe of Folly Beach SC and brother-in-law Marvin Morrow of Bessemer City and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends starting at 1pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte before processing to Sharon Memorial Park for a 2pm graveside service.
