Pineville, NC – Mr. Bobby Lee Crump, 87, of Pineville left this world to be with his Lord on November 10, 2015, after a courageous battle with numerous strokes and blindness. At the time of his death he was a resident of the Memory Care Community of Legacy Heights, Charlotte, NC.
He was born August 2, 1928, in Pineville, NC, the son of the late Thomas Samuel Crump and Mary Kimbrell Crump. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Betty Vick Crump.
He was a member of the National Fraternal Order of Red Men and retired from Westinghouse as an inspector. He was a deacon and longtime member of Stough Memorial Baptist Church, Pineville, NC, and was currently a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Indian Land, SC.
Mr. Crump, “Pa Pa” as he was affectionately called, was a Godly man who loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son, and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he influenced. His hobbies included small engine repair, fishing in his boat at the beach, and spending time with family and friends. His favorite pastime was watching ball games, especially the Atlanta Braves. He was a faithful man. Before he lost his eyesight, you could always find him reading his Bible.
Survivors are his daughters, Mary Ann Creech (Mickey) and Jo Tiddy (Mike); brother, Jack Crump; grandchildren, Keely Varol, (John), Mitchell Creech (Heather), Rebecca Askins (Jourdan), and MacGregor Stevenson; and his great grandchildren, John Mitchell Varol, Clint and Carly Creech, Joey, Brady, Sam, Reece, and Keely Askins.
The family would like to thank the staff and care providers at Legacy Heights for the love and attention that he received during his stay there and the Hospice of Charlotte for their assistance with him during some of his most difficult times.
The family will receive friends at the McEwen Funeral Home on Park Road on Friday, November 13th, from 1-3p.m., followed by his service at 3p.m. Dr. Michael Gehring will officiate and burial will be in the Pineville Cemetery.
