After four years of courageously battling a long illness, Billie Jean Bonner, 62, of Mint Hill, closed her eyes and opened them to see Jesus Friday afternoon, June 1, 2018.
As Jean believed, our family also affirms our faith in that 'To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord'. We also know that in the midst of our sadness, we can celebrate her new life with Jesus. Knowing that God is completely sovereign, perfect in love, infinite in wisdom, we stand steadfast in Him as our hearts are aching. As we will miss her more than words can explain, we have the Blessed Hope and comfort of knowing we will someday join her in Heaven.
Jean was a 1973 graduate of Independence High School and graduated from Wingate University. Jean will be remembered for love of life and her dedication to help people in need. Some of you will remember her first business, Jean's Submarines on Independence.
Jean’s first public assistance was in 1984 when tornadoes devastated NC. Jean organized a 100-car, truck and tractor caravan that carried items like clothes, shoes, and food to the tornadoes victims. Jean founded The Christmas Miracle, a total volunteer organization, in 1991 to help the less fortunate of the Charlotte area. NBC offered Jean a 12-hour telethon to show Christmas movies while raising money. September 11th didn't go without serious notice either. Jean conducted a jewelry auction and raise over $30,000 that she donated to two firemen wives and a police officer’s family to assist them in their time of need. Jean made a decision during our nation's recession to try and lift people's spirits by creating the "Cross Of Hope". It is 60-ft by 30-ft by 10-ft concrete Cross located in Mint Hill. In recent years, Jean focused her attention to bringing awareness of our wonderful Mint Hill Police Dept. This group of volunteers were called Friends of Mint Hill. These are just a few examples of Jean's passion for caring for others.
Jean's immediate family includes her mother, Edith Lineberger, dad, Bill Lineberger; sisters, Kitty Huffstetler and husband, Arnold Huffstetler, Kim Smith and husband, Bruce Smith; brothers, Billy Lineberger and wife, Lisa, Johnny Lineberger and fiancé, Radenna; nephews, Sam Greiner and wife, Connie, Trevor Huffstetler, Ali Huffstetler, Clint and Eric Norwood, John Jacob, Billy Lineberger and fiancé, Kaila, Brandon Lineberger and fiancé, Bailey, Jeremy Lineberger and fiancé, Stephinie, Matt, Cameron and Chandler Smith, Charli and Journi Greiner BB, Alayna, Emily; and the love of her life, her fur baby, PollyAnna.
