Thursday September 16, 2010 we shall remember as the day that all tears from my mother’s eyes, all death, all sorrow, all crying, all pain, all the former things passed away. Behold all things were made anew for Beverly Fontaine Murray Snyder, beloved wife of J.Nelson Snyder(1923-1997), mother of six, sister, and friend. She walks now by the pure river of life where the glory of God is the light thereof.
Born in Charlotte, NC, she was delivered into this world on May 18, 1923 at her 1901 Park Drive home by Dr. Nalle. Her parents, Sydney Babcock Nail and Harry Peachy Mansfield Murray along with five brothers and sisters with a sister to follow welcomed her with love.
Mrs. Snyder attended Central High School. She graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, NC where she earned degrees in both Mathematics and also Religious Studies.
Mrs. Snyder took up the violin at age 74 under the tutelage of her daughter-in-law, Jane Hart Brendle. She enjoyed playing in school concerts with her grandson, John, jr.! She was a patron of the opera, the symphony and of the arts. Following retirement she enjoyed woodworking and art classes through CPCC. Myrtle Beach beckoned her throughout her years and her love of the beach is witnessed by her amazing sharks teeth collection.
Mrs. Snyder was a life time member of the Liberty Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Mrs. Snyder travelled the world and was always excited to share her stories with the children she taught as an assistant with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
She was a life time member of Mouzon United Methodist Church where she loved, served and worshiped our Lord.
She is survived by those she so encouraged, daughter, Beverly S. Mickey, son-in-law, John C. Mickey and precious son, John N. Snyder jr. She is preceded in death by her sons Ray M. Snyder, Ron O. Snyder and infant twins.
Grandchildren, Ben, Sarah, Sydney, John, Neal, and Sumner will cherish in their hearts her great love and many kindnesses: “Grandmother never missed a basketball game, a PTA meeting, a concert or an opportunity to give to us”.
Her grandson, Neal, lived with and cared for her in her final months with an amazing love and a great compassion.
Harry and Bryant, Providence Road will host a gathering on Sunday, September 19, 2-3:30 pm. Please join us as we celebrate her life at Mouzon United Methodist Church on Monday September 20, 2010 at 11:00 am. A graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park will precede at 10:00 am.
Memorials contributions may be made to Queens University, DAR, or Mouzon UMC.
