A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Betty was a daughter of the late Fred Crocker and Dorothy Mae Huggins Crocker. She worked with the City of Charlotte Account Department for a number of years. She was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, the senior choir, and Women on Mission. Her hobbies include handcrafts, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles. Betty loved to socialize with everyone!
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased earlier this year by her loving husband of 74 years, Melvin Harrison Williams. Also preceding her in death are her brother, Jimmy Crocker; her grandson, K.C. Abernethy; her granddaughter, Becky Marie Williams; and her son-in-law, Joe Abernethy, Jr.
She is survived by her three children, Melda Bustle and her husband, Raeford, Tommy Williams and his wife, Cookie, and Patricia Abernethy; her siblings, Freddie Crocker (Doris) and Martha Smith (Bob); and her sisters-in-law, Joyce Crocker and Maybelle Anderson. Mrs. Williams also leaves behind her 16 grandchildren, Audra Miranda (Steve), Carrie Jordan (Michael), Zeke Williams, Brie Collinson (Dan), Devon Myers (Joey), Easton Williams (Daniel), Zane Williams, Cara Overcash (Brandon), Catie Simpson (Nathan), Shane Bustle (Megan), Justin Bustle (Kristin), Glenn Abernethy, Patrick Abernethy (Courtney), and Dylan Abernethy; her 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in the Chapel at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Harris Campus, 7200 East W.T. Harris Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Dr. John Harrill will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
