Betty Jean Gardner

Betty Jean Patat Gardner, age 82 of Mt. Holly, NC passed away August 28, 2014. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00PM Tuesday September 2nd at Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Gerald Bearden and Mr. Gene Boatwright officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service (12-2PM) at the church . Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Betty was born March 8, 1932 in Charlotte daughter of the late Jesse Clyde and Violet Cash Patat. She was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church for 55 years, Joy Sunday School Class, was a church nursery worker over 30 years, a 1952 graduate of Harding High School, member of CWA, retired members club, and retired from AT&T as a repair clerk after 30 years of service. Surviving are her husband William M. “Bill” Gardner, Sr., children, Rebecca Hipp and husband, Timothy, Bill Gardner, Jr. and wife, Debbie all of Charlotte, Teresa Grigg and husband, Spencer of Gastonia, NC, Janet Gordon and husband, Michael of Charlotte and Karen Auten and husband, Mike of Gastonia, NC and 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Elizabeth Farnsworth. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class.
