Betty Kiker Baker

She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Betty was an avid square dancer and was inducted into the NC Hall of Fame and MCCA. She enjoyed being around people and spending time gardening with her husband.

In 1954 she graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and in 1956 she married her high school sweet heart, Gene Baker. She would go on to graduate from Mercy School of Nursing in 1957.

She is survived by her husband Gene Baker; daughter Karen Anderson (Bill); granddaughter, Bailey Trotter (Landon); brothers Bob and Ken Kiker, and sister Joyce Ashley.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A second visitation will also be held at the church from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Matthews Methodist Church, 801 S Trade St, Matthews, NC 28105. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
