She received her education from Pineville High School, Carolina Business School, and Central Piedmont Community College.
She was a lifelong member of Harrison United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees over the years and was a member of the chancel choir for most of her adult life. She retired from Textron's Homelite Division as Distribution Supervisor.
Betsy's two passions were gardening and dancing. In her early adult life she was a member of two Square Dance Clubs. After she retired she learned to clog. She was a member of the Silver Belles line dance group which entertained at various church groups and nursing homes. She also enjoyed weekly ballroom dancing for some fifteen years. She took great pride in a well manicured lawn and did her own yard work well into her 80's.
Betsy was preceded in death by one brother Carl Kerr and wife Bess, one sister Frances Leonard and husband, Wendell. She is survived by niece Pam Kerr Holt and husband Tom of Waxhaw, NC.; nephew Ronald Ross and wife Wanda of Danville, VA, grand nephews Jason Lamb of Denver, NC, and Matthew Ross and wife Amelia of Copper Hill, VA, grand niece Katie Ross of Wilmington, NC, and great niece Sadie Lark Ross of Copper Hill, VA.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 10:30 am at Harrison United Methodist Church, 15008 Lancaster Highway, Pineville, NC with Pastor Shane Page officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. Burial will be private prior to the service.
