Bennie Lenora Locke Wallace

Mrs. Bennie L. Wallace, 91, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 29, 2015. A native of Union Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late Furman Master Locke and Sue Bell Locke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Conrad Wallace, and by three brothers. Mrs. Wallace was a graduate of the Oakhurst School and was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. She loved her church. She was a ‘mother figure’ to everyone who sought her counsel. She loved working with ceramics, gardening, cooking, and the holidays which brought her the joy of decorating and the love of family. She was known to many, having been a Sales Associate at Ivey’s and Dillards.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by her son, David and his wife Patricia, of Charlotte. A sister, Irma Fields of Concord, NC also survives her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Taylor Wallace and Jordan Wallace, both of Charleston, SC.

A funeral service will be held in the Charlotte Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. James Weddington officiating. The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 6000 Fairview Rd #305, Charlotte, NC 28210.
