Beckie Lynn Maples, 48, went home to God on September 9, 2010. She was a resident of Charlotte, N.C. and formerly of Greensboro, NC.
Beckie was born in Pineville, KY to Gunnell Bain Maples and Ernest Mack Maples. She grew up in Alcoa, TN and Greensboro, NC. Beckie's career included 26 years of service at Duke Energy where she was a strategic business consultant. She graduated magna cum laude from Belmont Abbey College. Beckie loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a beautiful, kind, and generous woman who had a wonderful wit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Beckie was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Maples and her sister, Stephnie "Susy" Maples. She is survived by her mother, Gunnell Maples of Siler City, NC, brothers, Max Maples, also of Siler City, NC, Rodney Scott Maples of Rockford, TN. Sisters, Debbie Guimond and husband Jeff of Avon, Conn.; Shanda Hardin and husband Mark of Ramseur, NC; Kim Harbison of Rockford, TN. and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great-nephew who will cherish her memory. She is also survived by her former husband C. Matthew Lewis and stepchildren Rae and Nathan whom she loved greatly.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC. A Celebration of Life in Beckie’s honor will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Col. Francis Beatty Park, 4330 Weddington Rd., Matthews, NC 28105 with Pastor Charles Lindquist officiating. A reception will be held following the Celebration of her Life at Beckie's home located at 17126 Hedgerow Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 27277.
