She was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Twila Mae Eckman and the late Gove Saylor (G.S.) Boylan. She was also preceded in death by her beloved stepmother, Eula Bernice Harnsberger, and her aunt Lucille Boylan Sloan.
She was happily married for 62 years to the love of her life, the late Russell Jack Wiley of Charlotte, North Carolina. Their children are the late Jane Elizabeth Bogle of Concord, North Carolina, Marie Wiley Wade and her husband, Lance Alan Wade of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Margaret Lynn Wiley Ames and her husband Daniel Franklin Ames of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Barbara is also survived and loved by four grandchildren, Elizabeth Crawford, Will Bogle, Callie Murray, and David Ames, and three great-grandchildren, Rose Crawford, Jack Crawford, and Wade Murray. She remains loved by her siblings, Betty Bethune, Janet Henning, and Bill Boylan.
The Wiley family moved quite a bit when their three daughters were young for Russell’s work and made homes in Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX, and Concord, NC before finding their last home in Charlotte, NC.
Barbara was a beautiful soul and child of God who always saw the best in everyone and everything. She was one of the most positive, optimistic people you would ever meet. She loved art and was a wonderful portrait artist and photographer. Barbara was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for her family.
The family would like to thank Michelle Stauffenberg for the wonderful care and support given to Barbara. There will be a small gathering to celebrate Barbara’s life with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family will be honored by donations made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford (formally known as Oxford Orphanage where Barbara’s husband, Russell was raised) at https://mhc-oxford.org/.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com for the Wiley family.
