Born November 20, 1936 in Atlanta GA, she was the daughter of the late Erma Lee Martin and
Ralph Cansler Reed.
Barbara worked at the Charlotte Observer for over 25 years and retired in 2007. Barbara spent the
remainder of her years spending time with her late husband Carl, puppy Chico and loving family.
Barbara had the innate ability of making everything in life extra special, whether it was dinner for a
birthday, holiday, or just a simple dinner it was always extraordinary! Along with keeping an immaculate home, She loved working in the yard, decorating and cooking …….. However, her main hobbies were shopping, fashion, movies, music, perfume, and flowers!
We are going to miss that beautiful smile and her positive attitude that she exuded everyday of her life. In her final days she enjoyed her great grandchildren along with the friends and family that she made at Harmony Senior Living of Greensboro.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 15th, 2023 at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte located at 5716 Monroe Road Charlotte.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Sabrina (Al) Moreno of Atlanta, GA and Tranee (Lunsford) Lewis of Greensboro, NC; sister June Reed (Rick) Hess of Westport, CT; grandsons Andrew Landon Lewis and his partner Richard Runyon Martin; Zachary Jordan (Hannah Thomas) Lewis of Greensboro, NC; Addison Logan Moreno of Atlanta, GA along with great grandchildren Landon Scott Lewis and Jordan Hoxsey Lewis of Greensboro, NC.
