Barbara Ann Horne

Barbara was born on December 28, 1945, in Waynesville, North Carolina, to the late Clyde Gunter and Mildred Fargo Gunter. Barbara spent her childhood in Western North Carolina and graduated from Waynesville High School.

Barbara married the love of her life, Norris McDonald Horne, and together they had their son, Tommy. Barbara loved being a mom and was so immensely proud of her family. She always made sure that her family and friends felt cared for and would always cook for a crowd, even if there were only a few people at her table. Barbara was dedicated to the word of God and humbly served her Lord and her church community at Mount Harmony Baptist Church. She was an avid reader of her Bible and studied the scripture as often as she could. Barbara met some of her most cherished friends at Mount Harmony Baptist Church, and loved to get together with her church friends to play a game of dominoes or spades. Although we know Barbara is delighted to be with Jesus and reunited her late husband, those that knew and loved her will greatly miss her kindness, love and spirit.

Barbara is survived by her son, Thomas "Tommy" Mullis (Valera); brother-in-law, Morris Horne (Jeannie); sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Walker (Martin) and Tina Breakfield; and cousins, Shelly Smith (Jeff), and Ginger Ferguson (Kenny).

A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
