Barbara Jane Jeffreys GothermanMrs. Gotherman died peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2009.The daughter of the late Robert Alexander Jeffreys and Thelma Sterling Collins Jeffreys, she was born on April 24, 1926 in Goldsboro, NC. Bobbie graduated from Marjorie Webster College in Washington, DC, where she met the love of her life, W.W. (Bill) Gotherman. Mrs. Gotherman was married for fifty six years to the late William Wills Gotherman. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucy Ann Jeffreys Elliott and brothers-in-law William Henry Elliott and F. Lynwood Harrell.She was a long time member of Christ Episcopal Church and Quail Hollow Club.She is survived by daughter Virginia Collins Gotherman Negrelli and son-in-law Donald Edward Negrelli of Gates Mills, Ohio, granddaughter Elizabeth Collins Williamson and her husband Carroll of Columbia, SC, granddaughter Susan Alexandra Negrelli Lalonde and her husband Beau of Beavercreek, OH, son Robert Warren Gotherman and daughter-in-law Judy Cathey Gotherman of Charlotte, grandson Edward Warren Gotherman and his wife Janie of Charlottesville, VA, grandson Charles Alexander Gotherman of Charlotte,NC, daughter Susan Jeffreys Gotherman Hortman and son-in-law Dr. Robert Patterson Hortman of Rome, Georgia, grandson Lt. Robert Patterson Hortman, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Atsugi, Japan, grandson William Jeffreys Hortman of Los Angeles, CA, granddaughter Jane McNair Hortman of Atlanta, GA, son William Wills Gotherman, II of Charlotte, NC, brother George Collins Jeffreys and sister-in-law Lucy, sister Thelma Jeffreys Harrell all of Goldsboro, NC and many nieces and nephews.Bobbie will be remembered as a gracious hostess who was proud to use her home and yard for the enjoyment of others. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, whose photos took up the entire “picture wall”.The family will receive friends on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC. A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 with The Reverend Lisa Sanders of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lay Eucharist Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.The family would like to thank the staff of Christ Church, Southminster Retirement Community and Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region for their care and compassion. The friendship of Novice Sigmon and the Sigmon family as well as Mae and Bill Ingram have been invaluable and a blessing to the Gotherman family.Harry and Bryant Company is serving the Gotherman family.
