Born on April 17, 1926 in Dayton, Kentucky, Barbara was the daughter of the late Marion and Elizabeth Armstrong Reed.
Along with serving one year as a kindergarten teacher, she spent most of her working career doing church secretarial work for Atonement Lutheran Church, Shamrock Drive Baptist Church and St.Thomas Lutheran Church.
Barbara was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church. She lived a long and full life that was filled with her love of history, movies, and books which she shared along with spending time with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her many talents included sewing, knitting, quilting and painting with acrylics and water colors. She had a deep fondness for her garden spot, enjoying her last days watching the birds and squirrels frolic and feed in that garden.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry Lee Aylor, Sr., granddaughter, Jessica Ferrell Black, her brother James Reed and half brothers Raymond Reed and George Reed. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dr. Harry L. Aylor Jr. and wife, Carol, Rebecca “Becky" Aylor and husband, Dan Cook and Mary Beth Ferrell and husband, Kenneth; eight grandchildren, H. Lee Aylor III, Michael Aylor, Phillip Aylor, Jessica Cimino, Valorie Carder, Scott Carder, John Ferrell and Amy Callahan; and 15 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit 30 minutes prior to the service planned for 2:00 pm Friday, August 25, 2017 at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212. Chaplain John Samb will officiate.
