Audrey Hearn King passed away Friday June 19, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville. Funeral services will be at 2;00PM Monday June 22nd in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, Reverend Doctor Fredrick Bowman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (1-2PM). Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. She was born in 1917 in Blewett Falls, NC to Donnie and Jessie Lenora Hearn. Her father was a ferry Operator on the Pee Dee river where she grew up. When they built a bridge across the river they put the ferry out of business. The moved to Charlotte when she was in the third grade. She graduated from Central High School and Shuford Beauty College. She married Murlan C. King June 20, 1937. He was a barber and had a shop on Trade Street in Wesley Heights and she had a beauty shop in the back part of the building. She retired after 50 years in the beauty business. They were very active in their church, Wesley Heights United Methodist Church which later merged with Covenant United Methodist Church on Tuckaseegee Road. Audrey and Murlan were married for 68 years before his death in 2006. She lived independently in her home for 98 years. She went with a group of her neighbors to a hot lunch program at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church where they had a wonderful meal and fellowship. The family is grateful to everyone involved with this wonderful program, especially Regina McGee, Melba Elam Tiffiny, Mary Elam, Jean Earnhardt and all her many friends. Surviving is her loving son, Richard H. King and wife Joan, granddaughter, Kimberly King Fox and two great grandsons, Eric and Mark Fox. She will be remembered for her quick smile and laughter.
