Aubrey "Jack" Jackson Allen, 80, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2022. He was born on March 12, 1942 in Gastonia, North Carolina to Edward Hal and Hazel Galloway Allen.
Jack grew up in and around the Charlotte area. He delivered milk for Biltmore Dairy when he and Brenda met. After they married, they moved to Albemarle, NC and Jack opened and managed the Family Shoe Center. He later moved back to Charlotte and worked in insurance and retail sales. In 1969, Jack was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was unable to work outside the home. At that point he took over managing the home and family. Over the years he was very involved in his daughters’ activities. He assisted in Girl Scouts and coached their sports teams. Every summer he and Brenda planted and harvested a huge garden. Jack had many friends in the community and could often be found visiting with them at the Corner Store. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family annually going on beach trips with his siblings and their children. He was most proud of his three grandchildren, Josh, Miller and Eli.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Brenda Miller Allen; his daughters, Jennifer Allen Holley and Karen Allen Webb (Howie); his grandchildren, Joshua Allen Holley, Miller Elizabeth Webb, and Elliot "Eli" Charles Webb; his siblings, Dorothy Young (Tommy), David Allen (Pam), and Judy Byrum (Johnny); and many other loving extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Robinson Presbyterian Church, 9424 Harrisburg Road, Charlotte, North Carolina.
