Annie Lou Hammett Ruppe, 84, of Charlotte, NC, entered into rest on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Harris Hospice House at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center. A native of Gaffney, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Dayton Hammett and Lennie Arvell Martin Hammett. She was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She retired from Duke Power as the Supervisor of the Employee Stock Option Plan after a thirty year career. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall F. Ruppe; by a son, David R. Ruppe; by a brother, Glenn Hammett; and by three sisters Marjorie Padgett, Billie Welch and Mary Brown.
Mrs. Ruppe is survived by her son, Stanley M. Ruppe and his wife Sharon, of Midland, NC; by her brothers, Forrest Hammett, Maynard Hammett and Robert Hammett; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 11:00 until 12:00 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park. A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Ruppe will follow at noon in the Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park with the Rev. Earl Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Sharon Memorial Park.
