Ann S. Tucker of Charlotte, born Annie Mae Stephens departed her earthly home unexpectedly on April 11, 2015. She was born November 1, 1936 in Harmony, NC and spent much of her youth in the Denver, NC area of East Lincoln County. Ann and her four brothers and three sisters have many fond memories of tough times growing up helping their mother and father with farming. After attending Rock Springs High School, she went to work at the “Five and Dime” Woolworth store in uptown Charlotte. Her husband to be, David, came calling after learning of her from one of Ann’s brothers. They were married June 30, 1956. She attended King’s College before starting her family. David and Ann made a happy home for their daughters Donna Carol and Janet Ann in Mecklenburg County while David owned and operated service stations. In addition to supporting David’s business, Ann worked at Eastman Chemical and Sun Chemical before retiring from BASF in 1996. She was a member of Pineville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed fellowship with the John Wesley Sunday School class and singing with the Golden Pines. Ann was known for her bright outlook, beautiful smile, lack of complaints and faith in God. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she never missed an opportunity to share her love, support, time and prayers for them. Her granddaughter Sommer is a 2013 Clemson University Accounting graduate and will graduate with her Masters in Accounting in 2015. Her grandson “Hawk” is a sophomore in high school. She was overjoyed and full of pride at his recent Eagle Scout ceremony.
Ann is predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, David F. Tucker; young son, David W. Tucker; brother, Van W. Stephens and sister, Helen Howie. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna MacInnis and her husband Tom and Janet Simpson and her husband Tommy; grandchildren, Sommer Ann Zusin and Tyler “Hawk” MacInnis; brothers, Floyd N. Stephens, Paul Stephens and Robert L. Stephens; sisters, Nettie Helms and Kay Small. And sister-in-law Virginia D. Chambers The family will receive friends at Pineville United Methodist Church on Thursday April 16 at 1:00 pm followed by a 2:00 pm Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Ann’s memory to Pineville United Methodist Church, 110 S Polk St, Pineville, NC 28134.
