Mary Broome, the youngest of 6 children. She later moved to Charlotte where she married Thomas LaJoie,
Jr., (Tommy) and gave birth to her only child, Tom III. When Tom married Heather, Ann said she now had a
daughter as well–not a daughter-in-law.
Ann worked for over 25 years for Wachovia (now Wells Fargo), with some of her favorite years working as an itinerant banker moving from branch to branch for support. While she later worked for other banks, Wachovia was an important part of her identity.
Ann lost Tommy to cancer the same year she welcomed her first grandchild, Kathryn Ann LaJoie. Kathryn was her “angel,” and grandmother and granddaughter shared a lot of laughs and ice cream sandwiches over the years. Ann’s second granddaughter, her “princess”, Elizabeth Rose LaJoie, was born a few years later, and Ann continued to dote on her granddaughters.
Many lonely years after Tommy’s death, Ann found love and companionship with Mike Privette, whom she
married in 2018, and who was by her side when she passed.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 24 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service in Charlotte. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte.
