Melvin was the sweetest, kindest, funniest and most lovable person I have ever met.  Regrettably he came into my life such a short time ago. It didn’t take long for my heart to fall completely in love with him. Time was so short. 
Melvin always had a positive attitude. He wanted me to take him and his Mother to the Mayo Clinic in Florida . He always held out for hope. He wanted to go on a vacation and he wanted a dog when he got better. He made such a footprint on my heart I will love and miss him to we meet again in our Heavenly home.

I remember not to long ago me and Melvin was talking and he asked me what would you do if you were sick like me would you keep fighting or just give up I told him of course I don’t want you to die but at the same time I don’t know the pain your in I said only you can make that choice so it has to be up to you and he said thank you for talking with me I love you and I said love you too it was very hard for me to know he might not be with us much longer 

One day when I was younger Melvin came over and Heather had an arts and crafts activity set up like always. We made homemade bubbles and bubble wands out of string and straws, I feel like we played for hours with bubbles seeing how high they would float in the sky like it was a competition. It was a simple day and simple activity but it was so much fun, that’s definitely my favorite memory with Melvin💛.

Melvin was a fighter and loved his family. He’ll be greatly missed but oh’ what a homecoming it’ll be. 

I will forever remember him wanting hugs from everyone in the room both from strangers and old friends! His hug warmed my heart! 

I remember the great love Melvin, Grandma, and Pawpaw had for one another. Surely there’s a beautiful reunion in the presence of our Heavenly Father. 

I have a number of great memories of Melvin.  Kevin Horn and I had a special dinner with him.  Don't tell Millie, but we got him a beer to go with his steak!  He also shared many great memories about Suzanne.

My son Drew also has nothing but fond memories.  He loved visiting Melvin (and Millie).  They talked basketball, especially Duke basketball.  Melvin proudly showed Drew his Air Jordans.  Melvin truly had a gift with children!

First of all, I would like to say, as his aunt Pearly.  I will miss him like crazy.  Over the years  Melvin and I became close, he was like my son.  I listen to him about the good and bad times of his life.  He cried,  and he would laugh.  He talked about his walk with God and doing God's will.  He wanted to make sure his family and friends were saved.  This was his biggest goal of all.  When  his health was failing he started fighting for his life.  He was the most bravest person I have ever known. If God wanted to call him home, he was ready. If God wanted him to fight and stay alive, that's what he was going to do and he did.  There were times he wanted to come over. Just to be with us. He and uncle Bill would watch the Duke games. Melvin would raise his voice to the TV -- OH !! Come on -- to the refs, you are wrong, that was not a strike.  Uncle Bill would join in too !  Melvin  was the life of the gathering.       

I worked with Andrew at Circuit City many years ago and we reconnected through Facebook. 
In addition to his genuine kindness and love for Suzanne, there is an incident that stands out that represents Andrews character.
As a manager, I was trying to diffuse an upset customer who was not taking no for an answer. As soon as this guy raised his voice, Andrew came in and stood next to me, arms crossed, showing this customer through body language that enough was enough! 
The customer left and we all had a good laugh at Andrews intimidation tactics. To me, it showed that he was protective and honorable. 


I was thinking about it...I’m asking friends and family to post.  But realized, I needed to share a memory myself. I remember us setting up forts in the living room so we could battle each other. I remember him throwing something at me, just so I would get mad and start a fight. I remember playing chicken in the pool and no one could beat us because, let’s be honest, my brother was 6’4 and I was probably 5’8 at the time. Me on his shoulders made for a very tall and massive opponent. I remember sitting on his bed while he played and mastered Mortal Combat and Resident Evil. We played hide and seek with our cousins. We played tag football that ended up not tag at all. I’m pretty sure a bush is still crippled from a game. I remember all the years at Circuit City and the friendships we got to share together. I got to sign his wedding certificate as a witness. He got to sign mine. He walked me down the aisle...still not sure how we made it without tripping because we cried the whole way. I remember sleeping on the waiting room floor waiting for him to come out of surgery from his liver transplant. I remember that year being really tough but man, he pulled through. I saw the hard work he was putting in at the gym. I saw all the memories he was creating with his friends at Gunn’s. I remember the news that he needed another transplant. I’ll remember how strong he was. He gave me some fantastic memories from our brother/sister trip to Florida. I’ll remember that there are soooooo many more memories that I’ll get to treasure. But mostly I’ll remember his smile and his laugh. I’ll remember his support and how he thought I could do anything and everything. He was my biggest fan and I was definitely his.  He was the absolute best and I’m going to really miss him. But he gave me more in his shorten time then I think other sisters get in a lifetime. Love you Melv. We’ll be together again one day. Until then...

I don’t think I’ve ever met siblings closer than Melv and Heather.  What a joy it must be for Mama Dozier to have watched those 2 growing up and becoming super close.  We will miss Melv but are thankful for the opportunity to have gotten to know him.   

Melvin and I were not related by blood, but we were always brothers. From the first day I met him, until his final days he never changed. No matter how much pain he was in, he always had time for his family and friends, no matter the situation.  Melvin had such big heart to match his large frame and showed so much love to everyone he met. He was the first person there for the birth of my children and many landmark events in my life. We laughed, cried and enjoyed life together. There will never be another Melvin. Rest well brother. I love you. 

I can remember Drew coming into my gym for the first time. His positive attitude and determination was so contagious. He instantly brought a light into that gym and put a smile on everyone’s face. Drew was the first person to decide a “double” was a good idea, and him and I conquered 2 hours worth of boot camp together. I still have that picture. I still remember the sweaty hug, I still remember how proud I was of this champion. Drew impacted every single person that trained next to him. He was everyone’s biggest fan, and we were all his. We did work because of him. We laughed and loved harder because of him. We were all blessed in so many ways just by his presence. Gunn’s Fitness and all of our family members will continue to “Do Work” because of Drew❤️💪🏼

Drew was one of a kind and reminded everyone he came in contact with the value of what each day brings. Never have I known someone to reflect such a positive outlook. My fondest memories of My friend will be of the summer evenings spent listening to music and enjoying our fellowship. Rest easy brother. You will never be forgotten.

My cousin was one of a kind. We shared so many belly laughs over the 33 years I got to spend with him. As a kid I spent a lot of time at his house, and we would play hide and seek which he would win EVERY time...although he was so much bigger than me. He gave me noogies and we would wrestle and he taught me how to be tough. Every Christmas he made us all laugh without fail. I’ll miss him but I know he is so happy to be home. 

I’m not sure where to begin with all the memories I have about my Superman. He is the only real super hero I have ever been blessed to call one of my best friends. Our friendship started at Gunns Fitness where I had the opportunity not only to train him but watch him inspire everyone that came to workout with us. Drew was always everyone’s cheerleader. He would stay for every class just to motivate others to “Do Work “as he would say. Our friendship grew from that point on. He became the big brother I always wanted. And boy did we have some fun. Many country concerts that he was about 8 women’s bodyguard. And you best believe No One would talk to us unless he approved. We had many late night bonfire memories with lots of laughing and serious talks of course. One of my favorite memories is the big snow storm we had in Charlotte. He and I rode a four wheeler to a neighborhood and found the biggest hill we could find to sled down. And boy did we fly!!! He and I flew off that sled half way down and rolled over each other,I’m pretty sure he gave me a concussion. But we laughed so hard we were crying frozen tears. He text me for days telling me how sore he was and sending me pictures of bruises. Not a week went by that we didn’t text or call just to check on each other. His friendship and loyalty is like no other. Selfishly I wanted so much more time with him. These past years my Superman couldn’t live the life he deserves he just didn’t have the energy after all his treatment. But he had a purpose, he said to me “I’m not done yet”. He wanted to make sure his family and friends were going to be ok. To everyone that loved this amazing guy remember he still is not done. He is Doing Work in Heaven, in a healed body free of pain. He still is looking after his family and friends. We all have a Superman Guardian Angel like no other. You will never be forgotten. The love and memories you shared with us all will be treasured forever.  We love You Big Uncle Drew❤️❤️ Love Trina 

I had the pleasure of meeting Andrew  Through my daughter And  my son-in-law who both worked with Andrew at circuit City in Connecticut. Andrew will forever be in my heart and I will forever be endebted to him for the day that he went over and rescued and saved my daughter's life from an abusive Partner that she was in a relationship with before my son-in-law. Andrew had such a big huge heart and he will be deeply deeply missed by many many people my condolences to the family may Andrew rest easy and spread his wings and fly like the angel that he was meant to be God-bless💜

We had the privilege of meeting Drew at Gunn’s Fitness.  He became a friend, motivator, and bright inspiration. Whether it was talking college football or simply how things were going that week, Drew always had a kind word to offer and smile to share.

Throughout our time together, Drew’s mantra was “Do Work” and that’s something we’ll carry with us every day. 
We’re thankful to have met such a warm, caring, warrior like Drew & will keep him and your family in our hearts.
