Agnes V. McGee

Agnes Vondelle Gilmore Downer McGee “Granny” (86) peacefully left this world and went home on Monday, September 18, 2017. She was born April 16, 1931 in Wadesboro, NC to Walter and Lou (Munlin) Gilmore, and was one of 11 brothers and sisters.

Agnes spent the bulk of her career as an administrative assistant with various organizations and concluded her working life as a library assistant at West Mecklenburg High School. She had many interests, including Girl Scout leader, church choir member, gardener, and hospital volunteer. Agnes also enjoyed art, music, reading, travel, playing the card game "hand and foot" with her neighborhood friends, and her beloved poodle Roxanne.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and her husband C. Richard (Dick) McGee.

Agnes shared a great love for her family and friends. She is survived by sister Brenda Hill (Lyle); her daughters, Susan Lingelbach and Mary Angel (Randy); her grandchildren Debbie Costas (Randy), Katherine Keith (Jared), Amanda Lingelbach, Chelsea Angel, Logan Angel; and her great-grandchildren Caitlin Church, Amyah Fuentes, and Branden Keith.

A celebration of Agnes' life will take place at McEwen Funeral Home, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, N.C., at 2:00 PM on Saturday September 23rd. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.
