Reba D. Hammonds, 93, of Charleston passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Self Regional Hospital, Greenwood, SC. She was born September 26, 1921 in Charleston, a daughter of the late George Washington Marion and Lona Patrick Marion. She was also preceded in death by her husband Raymond Hammonds, infant son Ronald, daughter Charlotte Canterbury, two sisters, Opal Flowers, and Coleen Wines, and two brothers, Hall Marion, and James “Jim” Marion. Reba was retired from Thomas Field Wholesale and after retirement worked part time at Talbots. She enjoyed volunteering at Ronald McDonald House. In her spare time she loved gardening, and water aerobics. She was a member of Elk River Church of the Nazarene where she was a church greeter for many years. Survivors include: daughter Carol Jarrett (David) of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren, Jerri Smith, Jason Jarrett (Jaime), Erin Jarrett (Jon); grandchildren by choice: Hayley Remus, Brooks, Alex, and Griffin Whittington; great-grandchildren: Donald Boylen (Alisa), Christopher Smith, Jaida and Julieanna Jarrett and soon to arrive Nova Gwinn; great-great-grandchildren, Madison and Donald Boylen, III; sisters, Elizabeth Coleman and Loraine Asbury; and one brother William “Bill” Marion (Betty). Funeral services will be at 11A.M. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home, Charleston with Pastor Randy Ledsome officiating. Burial will follow at Baxter Cemetery, Elkview. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
